The DoJ required an online system that answered the general enquiries of the public in a user friendly, constructive manner to better help them resolve their common disputes. By helping users resolve their disputes the website lowers the stress on the DoJ call centres.
One scenario developed by Consumer Affairs is ‘My landlord wants to keep my bond’. A user is guided by a series of questions. For example, ‘When you paid your bond, was it lodged with the Residential Tenancies Board Association?’ ‘Were any of these reasons the reason why your landlord wants to keep your bond?’ The path taken through the scenario depends on particular answers to the various questions.
