“Central Station” – Whole of Victorian Government Intranet

The challenged faced by the Department for Victorian Communities was to ‘break down the walls’ of Government and encourage people to collaborate across Departments. It was discovered that the same concerns, problems and passions were being expressed across Government but there were no organised tools that encourage any ongoing collaboration.

Central Station provided exactly the Community of Practice tool that DVC required to combat this issue. People are now able to create new Communities and invite members to join; they can set regular meetings or seek advice from members of other communities. Community members are able to collaborate one on one or with the whole Community depending on their individual needs.
