E-Learning

Learning is a part of our daily lives and technology now provides powerful new ways to learn. Acumentum has been developing training and learning applications for more than 20 years. Since 2002 Acumentum has been contracted by The Learning Federation to develop learning objects for use by teachers in the classroom to provide more engaging, entertaining and authentic learning activities for children learning maths and science in primary school.

Acumentum is working with industry to capitalise on the new ways of learning to build powerful knowledge management and communications systems based on pervasive internet technologies.

Our learning projects aim to make the learning experience more enjoyable and meaningful and focus on generating real improvements for all users. For a learning process to be able to achieve its purpose, it must:

  • Engage its audience, by arousing interest and demonstrating relevance
  • Provoke thought by encouraging people to explore, experiment, and extrapolate
  • Provide as many opportunities as possible to perform the desired skill in an authentic context.

For any learning process to be successful, it is essential to have a clear understanding of the skills to be acquired, the context in which it is to be practised, and the benefits of the enhanced skill.

Today’s internet technology provides a valuable platform on which knowledge can be presented. There are many ways to thread selected digital resources (documents, spreadsheets, databases, Flash and other multimedia objects, video and audio) from the masses available to guide people through their tasks at hand and when they require learning to link them to learning materials or experts as required.
